My husband Joel, age 42, is a great big NASCAR fan! He is also has type I diabetis. Unfortunately, he has some complications that are associated with having the disease (since he was 9 months old) and there are some limits to what he can do. But missing a race isn't one of them!!! We both enjoyed the "Sugar Free Racing" site.

Dale Earnheart was and always will be the greatest. I cryed the day I found out,I have always watched racing. I watch that day and did not find out until the next morning, I woke my husband up to tall him. I was crying so hard he thought something was wrong with the kids. This isn't about diabetes...it's to thank you for the wonderful pictorial tribute to Dale. He was one of a kind, he stood head and shoulders above the rest. As the second anniversary of our loss approaches it's hard to deal with the grief, but there are so many smiles in the memories, his sense of humor was very subtle. Why are some people allowed to get away with certain actions, when others are penalized for the same such action?

Case in point: Penalizing one driver for spinning out another driver, when for years other drivers have done it and not been penalized.

I feel this discrimination has hurt NASCAR and as a result,I now follow the NASCAR series less.

I also feel, restrictor plates have caused more problems than they have solved.

Very nice web site and great pictures of Dale Earnhardt. My husband is a big fan of both Sr. and Jr. We have a 6 year old type 1 diabetic daughter. Cori was dx at age 2 1/2. She has had to go through more in the last 4 yrs. than most people will ever go through in their whole life. She is a hero to us! I happened to see your photos on the Dale Jr. Pit Stop site and decided to visit your website. Thank you very much for sharing these wonderful photos for us who are race fans, but will never get the opportunity to have a picture taken with our drivers. Dale Earnhardt is truly missed in this sport.

I have had diabetes for thirty years. Over a year ago, I started using an insulin pump. It has changed my life. I feel better, I feel like I can live a more normal life with eating, exercising, or missing meals if I need to. I totally recommend it for anyone who might be thinking about it.

You've got a great site! My first cousin has Type 2 Diabetes and know how tough it can be even though I've never expireinced it myself. She constantly struggles to keep her sugar in balance but we're all there for her. We know she can pull through and win the race!

I just clicked on to this site for the first time, Barry you guys really do fantastic site construction.

The tribute to Dale is awesome!

I am a third generation diabetes type 2 sufferer, and like you have learned it is a lot of testing and adjusting. In addition to diabetes I have Inherited Genetic Hemochromatosis, (also known as Bronze Diabetes), and have to corrolate the treatment of this with diabetes. I have just recently learned I am now manufacturing too many red blood cells, and will begin treatment for this as well.

The American Hemochromatosis Society has designated the Month of May as the official month for the annual awareness campaign. They have been spreading the word about Hemochromatosis a deadly but highly treatable and managable desease.

Like I said I have learned to test adjust, and manage my conditions, and try to lead as normal a life as possible.

I myself have been an Earnhardt fan for 14 yrs,My son for 10,he's 12 now.My wife and I took Jarrett when he was 6 mth's old ,give or take a week or two. We were in the middle of three and four infeild of course,Jarrett we had in a stroller. Man i gotta tell you ,when those cars came around the 1'st lap he cryed so bad that i felt bad.But im here to tell you ,20 laps later he was sound asleep, matter of fact ,He woke up once maybe twice just to eat ,and back asleep he'd go .I myself said he was grinning when he was awake ,my wife said he had gas.But you know in some kinda weird way i knew this was just the start . He said earnhardt before he said daddy ,And hes been saying it ever since.My son is one of the biggest E fans i personaly know ,and their are lots of people who would agree.He was at big E,s 4th ,5th,{which he may not remember those 2}6th and 7th crownings at atlanta,he has seen him win at atlanta and talladega quite a few times ,we were at atlanta when he beat Bobby by inches,also the best race ever ,Dales best but last at Talladega.Needless to say this has been a very bad time at our house. This time of year we cant wait for talladega,now it s just not the same .We will still go as always ,but their will always be an empty spot on the track for us .We really enjoyed your pictures of Dale, Thank you very much . For the last 2 years I have been watching Auto Racing on the TV. And on mostly all of Dale's Car wrecks that he was involved in he was always the First to exit the car to confront the happing that he was involved in, and at Daytona When he did not get out. I knew in my heart that it was not good, and that he, had went to the Auto Racing in the Sky to Join all the others, And to his wife and children, and Family. My Family's Prays are with all of them. It is Feb. 9th. and I would like to see activities at Daytona. On FX I am watching reruns of M*A*S*H*. On Fox there is a cartoon. Finally, on Fox Sports Net there is a basketball show and a commerical about getting a flat firm stomach. No coverage from the speedway. ESPN2 covered about 3 hours a day. If this is a sign of the future I will take the past! NASCAR lost allot when they went for the $$$$$! Funny...on Speed Vision there is stock car racing from Canada!

I love to race my go-kart, play football, basketball, baseball, track, weight lifting, and working with my dad. so for you new diabetics don't let it contol your life you control your blood count and not let it slow you down.

My wife and I have enjoyed racing on TV and we also go to several races a year. The expense of the tickets is getting to be very expensive and we're unable to afford to go to as many as we would like, many of our racing friends feel the same way. First I would like to say that living with Diabetes everyday is a chore in itself and that I really like the website you all have set up because most people don't realize what a diability disease that this is. I am a 44 year old female who up to about three years ago thought I would grow to be a very old woman with my husband of 25 years. I have vascular disease so bad it is literally killing me from the inside out. I fell that most of my problem is from fluxuating in weight all my life and they found out I was diabetic when I was 29 years old. At the time of my first heart attack I was and over the road truck driver and had to give up my CDL's because of my bad health. In the past three years I have had three heart attacks and two strokes, 7 heart catherizations, one cariodic artery surgery and a double by pass in my right leg.
